"Well well, it's been quite some time since we've had another promising meister in our academy!"

The bouncing Shinigami-sama rejoiced upon the new arrival, as she remained silent in thought. Her attire made her look like that of a female pirate, from a bandana upon short and choppy, dirty-blonde hair, to her black top and tight shorts. She was in no means about to follow a particular dress code, and luckily for her, this wasn't that kind of academy. Her shoes were what appeared to be a model brand no one could name, with what seemed to be buttons on the insides of her heels. And her eyes were like that of a witch, thin, black pupils with yellow coloring around them, though all suspicion had previously been cleared.

"You've stated before..." Shinigami-sama continued. "...that you have yet to find a suitable weapon. Luckily for you, there are always plenty of weapons here that are searching for their meisters, I'm sure you'll find someone to your liking and style."

"Thank you, sir." She bowed politely before leaving. "It's an honor to be under your roof and teaching skills."

"Thank you, Rena-chan, and welcome to Death Weapon Meister Academy!"

Plenty of weapons here, huh? Rena thought as she began to tour around the academy. She wanted to become familiar with the area before she went to any of her classes. As she walked around, she noticed that she was given the badge of 'Meister' to wear on her cloths. She began to look around to the other students to find those who read 'Weapon'. However, as she continued to search, she saw that all of who were weapons already had a meister with them, and vice-versa. She had begun to lose any hope of getting a weapon there, so, still frustrated from a failed search, she started for her classroom.

"Everyone, please be sure to write detailed notes today." Professor Stein began, standing in front of his board, already filled halfway with complex equations and pictures. Rena knew that even though she was a new student, it would be better if she kept up with her notes, at least until she managed to find a suitable weapon. She began to scribble everything on her board, when her eyes shifted to a sudden fall of stacked books two rows down from her. Professor Stein also took notice.

"Excuse me, Suki-chan, please try to be a bit more careful. Those books are fragile AND expensive." He announced, turning the screw in his head twice.

"Uhm...yes, sir...sorry sir..." Suki replied, restacking the books and going back to her notes.

Rena couldn't help but take notice of her. Her light brown hair came into long and even bangs that hung in front of her eyes, so she couldn't see them at all. She was wearing a gray turtleneck sweater, that she stayed well hidden in. But what interested Rena the most was her badge. 'Weapon' was clearly written on it, and there was hardly a soul next to her. She seemed to be a newer student as well, still not used to everything about the academy. And after a moment of taking more notes and making sure that no one else sat next to her, Rena took her books and notebooks and moved down to her row, sitting a ways away from her. She didn't want to approach her too quickly. She had began to wait for the opportune moment.

After taking more of Stein's notes, and no reaction from Suki or anyone sitting around her, Rena slid over carefully towards her, trying not to be too obvious. After getting close enough to whisper, Rena glanced over to Suki, who seemed to be lost in note taking.

"...Hey, I--"

"EEP!!!" Suki jumped back far enough in her seat to fall out of it. She had been so focused she didn't even notice Rena had approached her. Rena stood from her chair to see if she was alright, when Stein rolled his chair towards them.

"Is there a problem here, ladies?" He started as Suki scrambled back to her seat. "Perhaps you two would profit better separated."

"No, sir, sorry. My fault." Rena spoke out. "It won't happen again." She glanced to Suki who, under her bangs, was blushing noticably.

Since that moment, they both remained silent throughout the rest of the class. In fact, even after the class was over, they hardly spoke, and had also gone their separate ways. Rena cursed at herself under her breath. It was probably her one shot of getting a weapon there, and she blew it. It wasn't until she was close to the entrance of the academy that Suki came into view again.

She was just standing by herself on the path towards the entry. She seemed almost invisible to everyone else, who was walking past her without even batting an eye. She was just...there. Like an energy only Rena could feel. Rena stayed for a while, watching her, wondering if she would leave or not. She finally decided on going up to her, and this time, she made sure she was in view before saying anything, to avoid startling her again.

"Hey...uhm..." Rena started, almost unsure of what she wanted to say. Suki looked over to her, or appeared to look to her. Even up close, it was hard to tell. "I...don't think I caught your name back there...Suki-chan, right?"

"Why do you want to know?" Suki replied silently. With that, Rena took one more reassuring look to Suki's 'Weapon' badge and smiled, showing off her own 'Meister' badge.

"Because, neither of us should be without the other in this place, right?"

Suki gasped slightly from that, and beneath her bangs, her eyes may have widened. She didn't know just how to reply to that, so she only nodded a bit in reply.

"And I get a feeling you've had about as much luck on finding a meister as I've had finding a weapon, am I wrong?"

Suki shock her head in reply.

"...Don't really talk too much, huh?"

Suki neither nodded nor shook her head in response. She just brought her hands up to beneath her chin and blushed.

"Well, don't worry about anything, alright?" Rena continued and wrapped an arm around Suki's shoulders. "With me, I'll do most of the talking. You just be as good of a weapon as you can be!"

On that comment, however, Suki pulled away from Rena's grasp and began to back away. "Uhm...I-I'm sorry, but you have me mistaken..." She started as she got farther from Rena. "I-I'm really not that good of a weapon...not as good as others. Y-You'd be better off finding someone else." With that, she turned and ran off.

"Wait, what?!" Rena said stunned for a moment, then as she began to run off, she sighed and shook her head. Looking down to her shoes, she grinned, her left canine shining silver. "I'm not losing you that easily."

Almost instantly, she jumped up high into the air and threw both of her heels together in a loud clap. Both of the buttons on her shoes pushed inwards and remained there. And as she fell, two loud bursts came from her heels, and soon did a brightly burning fire that kept her well aloft. She grinned to herself that it worked, then started after Suki.
--Can Two Failed Students Ace Life?

This is the first chapter that I wrote up on my old account, then lost interest as the account slowly died away with this new one. I felt like bringing it back and rewriting it a bit, and hopefully giving my two SE OCs a chance to live again. :D I'm so nice.
